A nice hot bath is ideal after a long day, strenuous workout, or anytime you want to soothe and relax your mind and body. Whether you take baths regularly or only on occasion, you can elevate your next bath with a blissful CBD Epsom salt.
What Is CBD?
Let’s first begin with what CBD is. Industrial hemp is a strain of the cannabis plant that is naturally low in the intoxicating compound THC, but high in CBD. CBD is the active compound responsible for the medicinal benefits of marijuana, which remains at varying stages of legalization from one state to the next.
After a pilot program that several states participated in, industrial hemp was legalized nationwide in 2018. As long as a product contains .3% of THC or less, it is legal in all 50 states.
As with all nutritional supplements, you should consult with your physician before trying CBD. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, you should not take CBD. While there are zero reports of overdose, almost anything we consume can have a side effect. Everyone responds differently to plant-based dietary supplements so pay attention to how you feel once you start taking CBD. While extremely rare, and most often when taken in extremely high doses, side effects include:
- Dry mouth
- Low-blood pressure
- Reduced appetite
- Negative interaction with prescription medications
Does Epsom Salt Draw Out Inflammation?
According to Medical News Today, Epsom salt draws out inflammation by detoxing your body of the toxins that are exacerbating inflammation. When added to hot bathwater, you can rapidly relax your muscles and joints, and you may experience decreased swelling, stiffness, and pain.
How To Take An Epsom Salt Bath?
While “salt” is in the name, Epsom salt is a combination of magnesium and sulfate—not table salt. Studies show that 75% of Americans don’t get enough magnesium. Magnesium naturally minimizes pain and inflammation, so adding it to your diet may reduce both chronic and acute pain. Supplementation can help, but so can taking Epsom salt baths to absorb the magnesium through your skin.
Hot water raises your body temperature, relaxing tense muscles. This relaxation soothes both the mind and the body. Add 2 or 3 cups of Epsom salt to your bath, along with CBD and essential oils—and you’ll be in for a blissful bath!
How Long Should You Soak In An Epsom Salt Bath?
To enjoy maximum benefits, you should soak in hot water for 15 to 20 minutes. To absorb more magnesium, you may want to stay in the bath for up to 45 minutes—adding more hot water as it cools down.
If you are soaking sore feet, a swollen ankle, or any other inflamed area, soak for 15 to 20 minutes 1 to 2 times per day.
What Is CBD Epsom Salt?
This is any Epsom salt with CBD mixed in. If you already have a go-to salt blend, simply mix 25 to 50 milligrams of Holmes Organics CBD Oil per 2 to 3 cups. You can premix a large batch or mix the CBD in before you take your bath.
Can I Put CBD Oil In My Bath?
Yes of course! Apply it topically to inflamed areas 10 minutes or so before you hop in the bathtub or add a dropper or two directly to your bathwater. The benefit to adding it to your bath salt first is to evenly distribute the oil. Since oil and water don’t mix, adding it straight from the dropper into your bathtub will require you to mix the water more than if you add it to your bath salts first.
What Do CBD Bath Salts Do?
CBD Epsom salt benefits include all of the benefits of Epsom salt, along with the topical benefits of CBD. The CBD will absorb through your skin to stimulate your endocannabinoid system. This helps to promote soothing, relaxing, and balancing your body from the inside out.
Can You Absorb CBD Oil Through Your Skin?
Yes! Just like the magnesium sulfate, CBD oil will be absorbed through your skin. While it typically takes 20 minutes or so for topical CBD to kick in, you are likely to feel the effects a bit faster when in a hot bath. Baths are always ideal for rapid relief.
