As you prepare to transition between seasons—CBD is likely on your radar. If you already have products you know and love, there is no need to transition to a CBD beauty line. Instead, create a CBD skin care routine with your go-to products.
How To Add CBD To Your Skin Care And Beauty Products
If you avoid using oil-based products because you don’t want the shine or don’t have time to wait for the slow absorption, our CBD oil tincture is ideal. Simply mix it into your favorite products using a small beauty spatula. You can also add a drop or two to your hand, and mix your product in. Once mixed in, there’s no shine and it will absorb rapidly.
Add CBD to your moisturizing day cream, overnight cream, cleansing or moisturizing face mask, shampoo, conditioner, body lotion, hot oil hair treatments, and more. A little bit goes a long way so a drop or two (not a full dropper) is all you need to add per use. If adding it into larger products such as body wash, lotion, or hair products—add one drop per estimated use. Just be mindful that the more you add, the thinner your product will become.
Make Your Own CBD Skin Care Products
Another option is to make your own CBD-infused skin care and beauty products, for yourself and for friends and family. We have a few recipes to choose from.
While protecting your skin in the cooler winter weather may be your initial goal, you are likely to find that you love CBD so much that you continue to mix it in year-round!
The Beauty Benefits Of Olive Oil
While you may use CBD to soothe and calm your mind and body, it can also be used topically to soothe and calm your skin and hair. Our oil tincture contains two ingredients—our certified organic CBD and organic extra-virgin olive oil. Beauty benefits of olive oil include:
- Rich in antioxidants A, D, E, and K for both a proactive and reactive approach to aging
- The antibacterial properties of olive oil can minimize acne and breakouts
- Vitamin E content can be part of your sensitive skin care routine, even for psoriasis and eczema
- Natural oils create a protective barrier between your skin and hair and the cold and dry winter weather
- Olive oil moisturizes and softens both skin and hair
How To Make Homemade CBD Body Scrub
Exfoliating will make your skin look brighter and feel smoother. While our skin naturally exfoliates our daily body lotion, sweat, and oil can slow the natural process of shedding dead skin cells. No need to buy an exfoliator when you can make these natural homemade body scrubs with ingredients you already have in your kitchen pantry.
Coconut Oil Infused Body Scrub
As with all the scrub recipes below, scrub gently to exfoliate your hands, body, and feet 1 to 2 times per week. These scrubs are designed for your hands, body, and feet—not your face. For best results, leave your scrub on for 5 minutes before you wash it off. The oil in the scrubs is slippery so be careful in the shower. All of these scrubs expire in 6 months, but if used weekly they won’t last that long.

3 Ways To Add CBD Oil To Your Summer Skin Care Routine
Summer is in full swing, so if you haven’t yet, it’s time to transition to a summer skincare routine. Here are 3 ways CBD oil can help.
Carry Your Sunscreen With You
Even if it’s grey, cloudy, and cold UV rays are always out when the sun is up. This means that we must wear sunscreen year-round, but during the summer we need to kick things up a notch. Many of your current products already have a bit of SPF protection, such as your foundation or body lotion. In the summer, you must also carry SPF protection with you to reapply every 4 hours. Yes, even if you have darker skin with melanin—you need sunscreen too!
We like Black Girl Sunscreen for your face because it offers broad-spectrum SPF 30, but it’s ultra-sheer and doesn’t streak like most sunscreens. It is also vegan, cruelty-free, reef-safe, and infused with natural ingredients such as jojoba and avocado. After you shower at the end of a long and fun summer day, consider adding a few drops of CBD oil to your body lotion to enjoy the soothing benefits for your skin and body.
Summer Face Masks
If you live in a hot or humid climate you will want to transition to a lighter daytime facial moisturizer, layered under your sunscreen. Even though it is not too cold or dry, you still want to deep cleanse and deep moisturize your face at least once per week. Clay masks are a popular choice for deep cleansing. Consider adding a few drops of CBD oil to your favorite mask to increase the organic properties. If masks tend to dry out your skin, the CBD may also help to preserve moisture while cleansing or use it to deep moisturize as mentioned below.
DIY CBD Moisturizer
There is a growing number of skincare and beauty products with CBD mixed in, but you may not want to give up the products you know and love. Not to worry as you can still enjoy the anti-aging benefits of CBD without changing a thing!
All you have to do is find a premium quality oil tincture and mix it into your current products. For smaller areas like your face, a drop or two is all you need. Yes, you can apply CBD oil directly to your skin, but mixing it in is one less layer to apply. Premix your CBD it into the entire bottle or jar or mix it daily in your hands first.
DIY Dark Spot Remover With Cannabis
Age spots, scars, and other uneven pigmentation can make you feel less than your best. While you must never lose sight of the fact that beauty comes from within, you can turn to nature to make this DIY dark spot remover with cannabis.
Gentle Weekly Exfoliation
Scars fade gradually over time, but you can accelerate this process with gentle weekly exfoliation. Our body exfoliates naturally but oil, sweat, makeup, lotion, and pandemic face masks can slow this natural process down. Without manual exfoliation, it will take longer for your scar to fade. Choose a granular or alpha hydroxy serum or cream to slough away dead skin cells, instantly making your skin look brighter. Avoid store-bought or DIY products that sting or burn. Exfoliate twice a week to reveal the healthy new skin underneath.
Support Your Skin From The Inside Out
Proper nutrition supports your skin from the inside out. Consider taking collagen daily, and eating a diet rich in Omega fatty acids, and foods rich in zinc, magnesium, and vitamins A, B, C, and E. Legumes are also a natural anti-inflammatory, so add more to your weekly diet. If your diet is rich in whole foods, you are already on the right track. When grocery shopping, remember to “eat the rainbow” purchasing fruits and vegetables of a variety of colors—providing you with a healthy range of essential vitamins, minerals, and nutrients. Proper nutrition is also a proactive approach to overall anti-aging.
DIY Dark Spot Remover
Aloe is gentle, soothing, and will help fade your scar. For daily use, carry a pure aloe vera lotion with you and apply it to your skin 3 or 4 times a day. If you have stretch marks, use both aloe and coconut oil or cocoa butter. Follow the recipe below for a weekly face mask. It won’t just fade your scars, but moisturize, soothe, and nourish your skin.
Ingredients
- 2 teaspoons honey
- 2 teaspoons turmeric
- 10 drops Holmes Organics CBD
- Optional 1/2 teaspoon of lemon or ACV, but not for sensitive or irritated skin
Directions
- Wash and gently exfoliate your face.
- Honey is sticky, so if your hair is long, keep it out of your face with a headband.
- Mix all ingredients together in a small bowl until smooth.
- Apply to your face and leave on for 15 minutes.
- Wash off with warm water.
- Without the lemon or ACV, this mask is gentle enough to use every other day, or at least once per week. Be sure to use a deep cleansing mask once per week.
As always, turn to nature as often as you can for skincare, beauty, and health!
