2022 New Year’s Resolutions For Health And Wellness

As you get ready to ring in 2022 you may be considering setting a few goals. Each new year is a clean slate filled with unlimited possibilities—which is exciting! New Year’s resolutions for health and wellness are one of the most popular goals to set. To increase your odds of success, create clear and measurable resolutions. Here are a few ideas to consider.

Move More

Our bodies are designed to move so if you are someone who sits 8 or more hours a day, like almost everyone, set a goal not just to hit the gym—but to move more. Yes, we all need to get our heart rate up a bit 3 to 5 days a week, but our bodies are craving movement in general. So, start doing little things like taking the stairs, walking 15 minutes on your lunch break, or doing 5 minute AM and PM stretches. Make movement social by taking walks, hikes, bike rides, or participating in physical activities with friends and family.

Nourish Your Body

With an increasingly busy schedule you may eat out more often than not. Even when we cook at home, many of our ingredients are made from fake and processed foods that have little to no nutritional value. In fact, the overwhelming majority of food in the grocery store is minimally processed. This leaves many of us eating 3 meals a day, and a snack or two, yet nutrient deficient. Studies show that 9 out of 10 Americans are deficient in at least one essential vitamin or mineral. Make this year’s goal not to go on a strict diet, but to simply eat 90% unprocessed foods and beverages, and 10% or less processed foods and beverages. Not to worry if you don’t cook as the grocery store deli section and many non-fast food restaurants have healthy food options—just be mindful of portion control.

Return To Nature

Returning to nature can encompass a variety of things, but we are going to focus on two:

  1. Set a goal this year to spend more time outdoors, preferably in a park in or around a local waterway. This will help to reduce stress and anxiety and balance your mind and body by boosting your immunity and improving clarity and focus. Your time in nature can be spent any way you like. Hiking, a leisurely stroll, meditating, napping, fishing, reading a book, a picnic, or a nap.
  2. Explore your options in turning to nature to heal your body. Making the dietary changes above is an excellent place to start as a whole food diet low in sugar will drastically reduce internal inflammation. Also, explore the benefits of fresh herbs, herbal teas, and organic THC-free CBD.

Challenge Yourself

Finally, set a goal or two this year that encourages you to grow! From finding a new hobby to overcoming an unhealthy habit, furthering your education, or finally pursuing the career of your dreams!

These New Year’s resolutions for health and wellness are the perfect place to start but customize them to meet your individual goals. Here’s to a healthy and happy new year!
